About Us

La Crosse Area Waters is a strategy put in place by the La Crosse Urban Stormwater Group. Made up of 10 local communities who are pooling resources to provide outreach and education about stormwater runoff.

Our Work

The La Crosse Urban Stormwater Group is taking on the challenge of slowing down the rush of rain and snowmelt that pollutes waterways and affects aquatic organisms. We are working together to educate private property owners, about what runoff is, why it's bad, and how to fix it.

Our Goal

This group collaboratively addresses Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System requirements. The La Crosse area MS4 communities target a 20% reduction in total suspended solids in runoff water.

Our Reach

The La Crosse Urban Stormwater Group represents communities within the area’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) boundaries, including the City of La Crosse, City of Onalaska, La Crosse County, Town of Campbell, Town of Holland, Town of Onalaska, Town of Shelby, Village of Holmen, Village of West Salem, and City of La Crescent. Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region provides project managment and outreach support.
